Designed for students seeking to earn an undergraduate or graduate degree, New York Film Academy South Beach offers Bachelor of Arts (BFA) and Master of Arts (MFA) degree programs in acting.
The BFA in Acting degree program lasts eight semesters and students have the option to either complete the program in three years without taking summer breaks or in four years with summer breaks. During the course of the program, students will master the craft of acting for the camera through a varied curriculum of in-class instruction, faculty-supervised workshops, and course assignments that will include acting in fellow students’ films. Each semester combines classes focused on acting for film with Foundation Studies classes in the Liberal Arts & Sciences that include English Composition, Foundation Math, and a History of Art. In addition, students will receive the professional preparation needed to succeed as a professional actor in the form of audition training and the compiling of a digital portfolio.
Students who have completed a Bachelor’s degree program at a post-secondary institution can enroll in the four-semester MFA acting program. Developed for both experienced actors and stage actors who wish to earn an MFA in acting for film, the program is an intensive, full-time commitment that will provide students with extensive on-set experience. In a combination of hands-on classroom education and intense acting seminars, master’s degree students acquire a sound understanding and appreciation of performing as visual artists in the motion picture arts and learn to integrate knowledge and professional experience.
