Overview of New York Film Academy South Beach, Florida Admissions Requirements

New York Film Academy South Beach, Florida provides rolling admissions for prospective students. Students can apply throughout the year to enroll in degree programs at our Miami location in the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.

Each applicant to New York Film Academy South Beach, Florida’s degree programs are expected to possess a high school diploma or its equivalent prior to the course’s start date. While there is no GPA requirement, students must be comfortable speaking English and be serious about making a total commitment to their chosen program in filmmaking, acting, and photography while studying in Miami.

Every applicant to New York Film Academy South Beach, Florida is expected to demonstrate the desire and dedication required to successfully finish our demanding, challenging, and full immersion degree programs offered at our Miami location. In addition, students must possess good communication skills so that they can work well with their fellow students. The filmmaking, acting, and photography programs each require different Supplemental Materials so be sure to contact our Admissions team to know what you must supply with your application.

All recruitment prior to a student enrolling is held in English and each student signs an enrollment agreement that details terms and conditions and New York Film Academy South Beach, Florida’s cancellation and refund policies for the program they are applying to. If English is not a student’s principle language, the student retains the right to request a clarification of the terms and conditions from our Miami office along with the cancellation and refund policies in her or his language.

BFA Admissions Requirements

All students pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from New York Film Academy South Beach, Florida must be proficient in English and have earned a high school diploma (at a minimum) or an acceptable equivalent. In addition, each applicant to our Miami location must submit a creative portfolio of supporting materials that illustrates the applicant’s ability to take on an undergraduate level of study and shows a potential for success within the profession.

To be considered for admission, students must submit one of the following documents:
  • Official high school academic transcripts (showing graduation date), sealed and sent by the issuing institution directly to New York Film Academy South Beach, Florida’s Admissions Office in Miami.
  • Copy of General Education Diploma or copy of state-issued high school equivalency certificate.
  • Official copy of Associate’s degree or college transcript from a regionally or national accredited college or university.
  • Copy of a fully-completed Department of Defense form DD-214 indicating that the applicant completed high school prior to or during his/her armed forces service.
Applicants must also submit the following:
  • A completed New York Film Academy South Beach, Florida BFA Application form.
  • $65 non-refundable Application Fee.
  • Proof of English Proficiency (such as TOEFL or IELTS score) if primary language is other than English. (TOEFL Code: 6857)
  • SAT or ACT scores (DI Code: 6513).
  • Two letters of recommendation.
  • Narrative Statement.
  • Creative Portfolio.
An ideal applicant for New York Film Academy South Beach, Florida’s BFA programs must demonstrate a sincere passion for their field of study, and the commitment necessary to complete a rigorous, total immersion undergraduate program. An interview may be required if the admissions department in Miami feels more information is needed to determine whether a student meets the qualifications of acceptance.

MFA Admissions Requirements

Applicants to one of New York Film Academy South Beach, Florida’s Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree program must exhibit a genuine passion for visual storytelling, a willingness to work with other students in an artistic environment, and provide a creative portfolio that demonstrates the applicant’s ability to succeed in a graduate degree program. Students must also have already earned a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree and provide the necessary transcripts prior to applying to our Miami location.

Along with completing the application, potential students must also provide the following:
  • Narrative Statement.
  • Resume.
  • Proof of English proficiency if native language is other than English.
  • Supporting Materials.
  • Official Transcript.
  • Three Letters of Recommendation to verify a candidate’s ability to successfully undertake graduate study in her or his chosen field.
  • $65 Non-Refundable Application Fee.
