Herschel Faber Herschel Faber
Chair of Filmmaking

Herschel Faber has worked extensively in film and entertainment. He had a number of screenplays optioned and made, one being the cult hit "Mac and Devin go to High School," (Anchor Bay) which stars Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa and Mike Epps. Faber wrote, directed and produced "Cavemen," a feature-length romantic comedy starring Skylar Astin ("Pitch Perfect"), Camilla Belle ("10,000 B.C."), Chad Michael Murray ("One Tree Hill") and Jason Patric ("The Lost Boys"). The film was released theatrically by Well Go USA in 2014 and on VOD in a partnership with Warner Brothers. Faber relocated to Miami to make Florida-centric films under his Fascination Films production banner.

Faber received his MFA in Film from Columbia University, where he won the "Zaki Gordon Award" for screenwriting and placed at the semi-finalist level in the prestigious Nicholl Fellowship and Austin Film Festival.

Farrell Goldsmith Farrell Goldsmith

Farrell Goldsmith began his journey into film in 2005. His first stop was completing a BFA in film production from Brooklyn College in New York. During his graduating year, Farrell won best producer for his short “Making baby,” and also won the prestigious National Board of Review award for co-producing the short “Adam.” Following his BFA, Farrell founded Yeoville Productions, where he was called upon to create various multimedia streaming and DVD content that included a series of short films, music videos, educational films and web ads. Several of these projects, in particular “Jewcan Sam,” received significant media attention from such outlets as TMZ, Huffington Post and “Doctors” (TV show), to name but a few. During the production of his first feature-length documentary, “Rejected,” Farrell completed his MFA at the University of Miami. During his studies he served as a graduate assistant for two years, co-teaching classes such as Visual Storytelling, Producing, Documentary Filmmaking, Directing the Actor, Screenwriting and Cinematography.

Miguel Parga Miguel Parga

Miguel started his career while still in college as a teacher's assistant for the NYU Acting Program at Tisch before working the overnight shift for ABC News, building graphics for them at first and moving up the ranks during his eight years at ABC. He covered such dramatic stories as the impeachment of President Clinton, the millennium, the death of Lady Diana, JFK Jr., Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, the 2000 elections, and 9/11. Miguel won an Emmy and a DuPont Award for his work on the millennium Celebration and a Peabody Award for the first 100 hours of 9/11 coverage.

In 2003, Miguel moved to LA where he started translating commercials for NBC and Telmundo, moving up to producing and directing spots for Pepsi, Canon, Hechts, Fisher-Price, Bud Lite, and the People Choice Awards, amongst others. Miguel soon hooked up with Josh Oppenheimer (Sahara and A Sound of Thunder) who gave Miguel his first job as a feature screenwriter in LA, penning a romantic comedy optioned by Julia Pierrepont and Rodney Wilson.

Miguel moved back to New York in 2007 and began teaching acting, directing, writing, and editing at NYFA. He was also the director for the Summer Programs at Harvard University from 2010-2012 and Mumbai, India in 2011. He has directed 21 films, with many having been featured in festivals across the U.S. His first novel, Blood Laws, was published in 2013 by Anaphora Literary Press.

Giovanni Fabietti Giovanni Fabietti

Mr. Fabietti applies a mentoring approach to visual design, unique sequencing, and lighting techniques. Throughout a diverse and dynamic career he has worked for clients in the U.S. and Latin America as an owner, producer and cinematographer at Cinepro Ltda for 29 years. At Cinepro Ltda, he worked extensively as a commercial film producer, creating advertising campaigns for Latin-American markets for such multinational clients as Western Union, Phillip Morris, Coca Cola, Kellogg’s, and Kodak. During his time at Cinepro LTda, Mr. Fabietti has also worked internationally in documentary film and was the cinematographer for comedy feature film, "Looking for Palladin." As a post-production and film transfer executive at Cineworks Film Laboratory, Mr. Fabietti promoted Cineworks throughout Latin America and also introduced the first Spanish-speaking colorist, Mr. Lee Stagno, to South Florida. Throughout his work, Mr. Fabietti’s commitment to mentorship and teaching has helped to foster many successful careers.

Kevin Layne Kevin Layne

Over a 30 year career in the film and TV industry, Mr. Layne has helmed a wide range of projects — including feature length documentaries, network promotional videos, music videos, and multi-camera music and entertainment series and specials. He has served as director of photography/producer for various MTV/VH-1 properties ("Behind The Music," "The MTV Music Awards," "Basketball Wives" and more) and worked with such artists as: Beyonce, Shakira, Britany Spears, Sir Paul McCartney, FloRida, Christina Aguilera, Lil Wayne, Guns and Roses, and Jon Bon Jovi.

Layne has produced and served as DP on 10 documentaries with William Shatner and David Zappone out of their Paramount Studios office. The projects have aired on Netflix, BBC America, and Corus Entertainment — and recent documentary "For The Love of Spock," directed by Adam Nimoy about the life and iconic work of his father Leonard Nimoy (the original Spock), premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. It will be distributed by Gravitas Ventures.

Layne is a graduate of The University of Miami Film and Communications Program. He has served on the South Florida board of governors with the National Academy of Television Arts and Science (NATAS) and The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS).
Peter Baloff Peter Baloff

Peter Baloff has written and produced movies and television shows for most of the major studios and networks, including Universal, Disney, NBC, and Fox.

​ Peter started his writing career as a playwright. After winning the Norman Lear Award for Playwriting and the David Library Award for Playwriting, he moved to Los Angeles to write for film and TV. Over the past 25 years, Peter has sold over a dozen screenplays (six produced) and worked on numerous network television shows and network specials. Quicksand; No Escape (Universal) won the Writers Foundation Award for Best Screenplay in 1992. The Undertaker recently optioned, was cited by the Writers Guild of America, West as one of the top-10 unproduced comedies.

Peter has taught Screenwriting for the U.C.L.A. Writers’ Program and currently teaches Screenwriting for the New York Film Academy. Over the years he has participated as a panelist at well-known film festivals across the country and has served as an adjudicator for the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival, an outstanding program, which cultivates nurturing mentorships between entertainment professionals and college students all across the country.

In addition, Baloff has directed over 200 national commercials and long-form shows for some of the world’s largest advertising agencies and Fortune 500 companies. Peter earned his MFA from the University of Florida, where he received the Presidential Recognition Award and recently was honored with the Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award.
